iDonate is deeply saddened to see the ongoing violence and tragic loss of civilian lives in both Gaza and Israel. We are, and remain, a business invested and dedicated to helping people and worthy causes who contribute to the community and social good. We advocate for peace and understanding for all.
We remain committed to ensure fundraisers raising funds for those people and causes in need in these areas follow relevant international laws, global regulations, and requirements required by our payment processors.
Below are some FAQ’s that may help in your mission to raise funds for those in war-torn countries or conflict areas.
How can I help support those affected by the conflict?
The fastest, safest, and most efficient way is through charities working on the ground. Please consider setting up a fundraiser for a verified organisation providing critical support to those affected. There are a multitude of Causes and Charities registered on our platform who are also registered with the Charities Regulator and carry out phenomenal work in these areas. Their work can be seen and verified on their socials and websites.
Why is my fundraiser under review?
Trust and Safety remain our focus. We need to ensure compliance across our own terms and conditions as well as across those of our payment processors and 3rd party providers. We understand that briefly delaying fundraising can be frustrating – but know that our team is working to review each fundraiser related to this crisis, to protect your support and your donor’s generosity. This will sometimes require our team to gather additional information to confirm compliance. Generally, a decision is made within 24 hours, but you can always enquire at the helpdesk for an update if the decision time exceeds this.
What details do I need to provide to help the fundraiser review process?
To speed up the review process, we recommend you include the following details in your fundraiser description:
1. All cities where funds and assistance are being sent. Specificity is important here — please include the name of the city, town, or village. We cannot accept generally stated regions or territories, or vague and undefined groups of people.
2. Clearly detail the purpose of the fundraiser and how the funds will be used. This can include, but is not limited to, humanitarian aid for civilians, a registered CHY public charity for medical supplies, or clothing and food for displaced persons.
3. If you are distributing funds to an organization after withdrawing to your bank account, you must list the organization’s name on your fundraiser and you will be expected to agree, in writing, that you will transfer funds to that organisation and that the funds will only be used for humanitarian purposes.
Why do you need my documentation?
As part of our review process to distribute the funds raised, we may need to gather additional documentation to verify your identity or the identity of the recipient, as well as plans to distribute funds. We know getting money to people as quickly as possible is important, however, this is necessary to meet payment processor requirements and help ensure the fundraiser is compliant with our Terms of Service. The information you share is only required for internal verification purposes and will be used in compliance with our Privacy Policy.
When can the raised funds be accessed?
This is a two-part answer, but the constant in it, is the fund release date. We release funds between the 7th and 10th of every month for all funds raised up until the end of the previous month. These dates may change based on bank holidays etc but this a rare occurrence.
If you have raised funds through a crowdfunder, you MUST have completed the ID verification process as well as bank verification. You cannot do one without the other.
If you have raised funds through a fundraiser for a cause or charity that is registered with us the funds will be released automatically between the dates above as they have already completed verification with us.
Why did you remove my fundraiser?
Please remember fundraising is not allowed for:
Any support for armed conflict, regardless of the country, which includes funding weapons, any supplies to soldiers, territorial defense forces and more.
Travel to any location to support military or territorial defense, except as required by a national government.
Any fundraisers in violation of our Terms of Service and our processing partners’ terms of service.
In instances of removal because we are unable to support a fundraiser moving forward, donors will be refunded.
