The Pick a Winner tool is a feature available to both Causes and the organisers of their Raffles. This is a quick and simple way to run the draw for your
Raffle, without the need for a tumbler or a hat!
If your Raffle has closed and you need to pick a winner, here is what you need to know to use our online Raffle draw tool.
This can be done one of two ways, depending on which side of things you are on. The process is slightly different for
Cause account admins and for people who organise a Raffle from outside of the main account.
Cause Account
If you have access to the Cause account, which is to say the main account of the charity the Raffle is in aid of, you can find the Pick a Winner tool in your dashboard.
Go to Raffles, then click the Edit icon beside the Raffle in question. In the vertical menu here, you'll find the Pick a Winner option at the bottom.
External Raffle Organiser
If you have registered a Raffle that was approved by a charity, you will have received an email containing some links.
One of those links will bring you to the Pick a Winner tool specifically for your Raffle. You will be asked for a 'Secret Key' password, this has also been provided in the initial email.
How to use Pick a Winner
The first thing to be aware of is that the Pick a Winner tool only becomes active once the Raffle is closed. If you open the page before the closing date, it will not be available.
Once the closing date has passed, use the applicable method described above to access the Pick a Winner tool.
From there, it is a simple matter of pressing the Start button to draw your first winner. The tool draws winners one at a time, if you have multiple prizes to give away you can press the button as many times as needed to draw each of your winners.
This will populate a list of winners below, which provides the names and ticket numbers of each winner. If you require contact details, there is an Export Winners button on the page.
This will download a spreadsheet report showing all of the data of the winners. This is available to both Cause users and external users, as contact data for Raffle winners is relevant and can be shared.
