How to Register as a Cause on iDonate

Charities, clubs, schools, and other organisations can register with iDonate as a Cause, to raise funds themselves or to receive funding from others. Cause accounts can access all aspects of iDonate, they can create Events and Fundraisers, run Raffles, setup Donation Forms and more.

The process isn't long, but there are some crucial steps to get started. Here are some things you should know to register your Cause.

Begin Your Registration

The first step in setting up your Cause account is to register here: https://www.idonate.ie/register-cause

The form is very simple, we just require some details about the charity so we can verify it. If your organisation has a Charity Registration Number (CRN), including it here will greatly reduce the time required to verify and approve the account.

The only part of the form we are quite strict about is the Charity/Cause Email Address. This will be the main point of contact for the account, as well as the main administrator. Whoever has access to this email account will have full authority over it; while other users can be added, they will not have the same level of permissions.

We require an official and ideally shared email for the registration. It must be an address tied to the charity, if your organisation has your own email service, please use such an address (info@charityname.ie, for example). If your organisation does not have its own email service, a standard email with the Cause name in it will also suffice (causename@gmail.com, etc.).

Once you have filled in the initial details, you will be prompted to add some contact information, which will be available to the public. Then, you will complete the registration by adding your login details (username and password), which you will use to access the account once it has been approved.

Cause Account Approval

Cause approvals are completed manually by iDonate, we check each application and approve any we can. The main reasons an account may not be approved would be for lacking an official email, not qualifying as a charitable organisation, an existing account, or if we deem another account type may be more suited.

Regardless, we will be in touch with the result of the process, usually within 1-2 working days. If your account has been approved, you will receive a confirmation email with further steps to get you started. If it has not been approved, feel free to respond to that email to request further details and we will advise further.

If there is something in the application that needs to be amended, we can assist with that and help to get your account approved.
