Donation Webforms - How to Guide

Donation Webforms - How to Guide

Step 1: Login

Log into your Cause Admin Panel and head over to the below link: WebForms.

Step 2: Create

On the top right-hand corner, you will see ‘Create’. Click here to start creating your custom Donation WebForm.

Step 3: Customise

Here is the fun part. Now you can create your form. Title and short link, details, primary branding colours and your image. To help guide you with getting the most out of your giving form, we have created a blog post for Individual Giving Best Practices. We also have a demo page that we have created for reference, Demo Page.

General Settings
  1. Your Form Title helps attribute the form in reporting, but also acts as the tab title on the front-end, in other words, the title will be seen to the public.
  2. Enter a Page Link to create the form’s URL slug, e.g., www.idonate.ie/forms/donatetoourgreatcause
  3. Create your description using the text box provided, or raw html. We advise making this short but impactful.
  4. You can now customise with your branding. Choose your brand colours by picking the primary and secondary colour using hex codes or a colour dropper allowing you to match your website branding.
  5. Enter a ‘hero’ image in Form Image. Make sure this image is impactful. Make sure to crop the image based on desktop and mobile views.

Step 4: Donation Amounts

Now you can move on to the ‘Donate’ tab.

Here you can add custom amounts for one-off and regular donations, by clicking the box ‘Show pre-set amounts’. Additionally, you can highlight donation amounts on the form with tangible descriptions, by clicking the box ‘Add tangible descriptions’.

Enter Amounts
To enter custom amounts, select Show pre-set amounts. You’ll then see several dialogue boxes appear under the headings. One-time payment pre-set amounts and Recurring payment pre-set amounts. You can populate these with your donation amounts, they’re ordered left to right on the front-end.

Tangible Descriptions
Click ‘Add tangible descriptions’, then select the donation amount, or add a description and enter the title and content. You can repeat this step for each donation amount on your form.
For example; Your first one-time payment pre-set amount could be €50. A ‘Title’ option will appear below this where you can add, for example, ‘a donation of €50 could’. The description box below allows you to explain exactly where that donation goes. ‘Provide educational resources for an entire semester to our students’.

In this section of the form, iDonate have built call to actions to promote the Tax Relief Scheme. Charity donations are tax effective if you donate €250 or more in one calendar year. By reclaiming tax on donations, you can increase it by nearly an extra 45%.

When a donation is deemed eligible for Tax Relief, iDonate will encourage your donors to complete the necessary forms online. As part of our Charity Tax Back eSigning service, iDonate will provide you with all completed CHY3 or CHY4 forms.

You can add this information in as a tangible description to prompt donors.

Step 5: Donor Details

Under the tab ‘Donor Details’ you can customise what data you want to receive from your donors.

Choose what information (for example, address, email, whether the donation is in tribute) is required, optional or can be hidden.

Add ‘Custom Questions’ to your form. This is useful for data capture for GDPR opt-ins, questions about donation source, campaign and attribution. You can format questions as radio buttons (single choice), check boxes (multiple choice), single line text inputs or dropdown menus.

Step 6: Payment

Your last tab is the ‘Payment’ tab.

The defaults are selected to enable Apple/Google Pay, Card Payments, Paypal etc., which can be enabled or disabled as you wish. If you have specific Terms and Conditions, please add these to your form with a link to your Terms and Conditions webpage.

There is the option to place code for Google Analytics or other web analytics services into the head or body of the form and upload custom style sheets.

Speak to your developer or IT technician to update your advanced settings for this if required. Otherwise please contact us and we will be happy to help you adjust.

Congratulations, you’ve created your first Donation WebForm!
